Sailing adventures for all

The JST takes both disabled and able-bodied men and women to sea, to not only teach them how to crew a tall ship, but to promote equality, sharing, and to celebrate our individual differences by working together to achieve greater things.

On board our two magnificent, fully accessible tall ships 'Lord Nelson' and 'Tenacious' everybody gets the chance to participate in all aspects of running the ship. The JST was established in 1978 and over 40,000 people have sailed with us. Of these approximately 15,000 people were disabled, including 5,000 wheelchair users.

Anyone over the age of 16 can sail with us and we take an equal mix of able-bodied and physically disabled crew on each trip with a maximum of 40 people on each voyage. We also strive to achieve integration on other levels such as age, background, religion, culture and gender, tall ship sailing can be a challenging for anyone. At the JST we believe that with team work and understanding, this challenge can be met.

Our Branch

We are one of the many active fundraising Branches that The Jubilee Sailing Trust currently has around the country. They provide a network of support and help that is essential, and they are an extremely important part of the JST family.

Cardiff & SE Wales branch is small in number with a focus perhaps more on fundraising –organising and running events, such as film nights, horse racing nights and more. As well as supporting the overall running of JST, the funds we raise are used to provide bursaries to help local people, who without some financial support might otherwise miss out on the opportunity to sail on the JST’s magnificent tall ships.

Cardiff, as a port, often welcomes the ships and when alongside in Roath Basin, Branch members are there to help where needed. A ship’s visit also provides the opportunity to organise and host events onboard which can include open-ship public tours and private receptions and parties either on deck or down below.

If you are interested in a voyage or just want to help, get in touch using the information on the Contact Us page.
